Therapeutic Approaches

I’m creative, intuitive, passionate, & I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach.

1.) Meditation/Mindfulness

When you encounter loss, finding the space to heal and grieve can be excruciatingly difficult, yet meditation & mindfulness can be a tool to give you that space. I have been a practitioner of these methods for over 20 years and have taught these mindfulness practices to people of all ages since 2006.  I have seen how nervous systems recalibrate, new insights emerge, and quality of life improves by implementing these techniques.  As a Certified Instinctive Meditation® Teacher, I use a friendly, beginner approach to making sure my clients don't get caught up and think they "can not meditate."

2.) Humanistic/Person Centered

I truly believe that each individual has their own unique path of grief. With this premise in mind, I honor and use each client's framework and strengths to curate an approach where the client is the expert in their loss. Losses can leave people devoid of trust in the world. I serve as a guide to have each client believe and develop their own trust of self that leads them to trusting their own instincts and eventually placing trust in their future lives.

3.) Somatics/Breathwork

Our experiences are held in our bodies, tightly woven with our emotions...waiting to hopefully be released.  Somatics includes any practice that utilizes the mind-body connection.   I am a trained yoga teacher who has studied bodies in stillness and in motion along with the power of the breath.   I understand a great deal on how movement and breathwork can serve as a catalyst to move and release grief. If clients want to explore somatically, we will identify together through sensation awareness, breath work, grounding exercises, and gentle movements how somatic/breathwork can move you forward in your healing journey of your inner and outer self.

4.) Cognitive Behavioral/Psychoeducational

I blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with other approaches countering faulty beliefs and thoughts you have of yourself & the world.  I have over 20 years experience as an educator and believe that one-one teaching by means of psycho-education for my clients provides a strong base for them to truly understand the connection between their minds, bodies, souls and personal losses. As a former classroom teacher, I understand pedagogy and how to relate and teach in a way that is accessible & engaging to my clients.  I skillfully guide clients through a hands-on-approach of understanding the psyche & how it relates to their unique loss(es).

5) EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)
EMDR is one of the most research-based methods of processing adverse life experiences. It provides an adaptive way of helping clients safely access their own healing through the use of bilateral stimulation, that incorporates both sides of the brain.  Bilateral stimulation helps move these distresses towards resolution and better management of emotions and triggers. I like to integrate EMDR with other modalities and talk therapy to further guide my clients towards healing. For more information on EMDR please visit: www.emdr.com

6.) Nutritional & Integrative Mental Health Counseling

When you are experiencing grief taking care of yourself can take a turn for the worse. However, the research is clear, what you eat, how you sleep, and physical activity affect your mental health. I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. If so desired, we can take a deep dive into you lifestyle and see what changes can help you manifest your transformation from loss, while processing through your grief.
